All participants of the Albus Award 2017-2018 acknowledge having read and understand, accept and agree to the following Terms and Conditions of Participation (the "CoPs"):

  • The PARTICIPANT must present an innovative project relevant to albumin research or its role as a therapeutic product.
  • The PARTICIPANT agrees upon presenting a focused project with goals that can be achieved within 12 months from the reception of payment by Grifols, S.A., in case the PARTICIPANT becomes selected as Awardee (as such term is defined below).
  • The PARTICIPANT should be a scientist or clinician conducting research at hospitals, universities or independent institutions.
  • The PARTICIPANT has to be employed or supported by a hospital, university or independent institution (the "Institution").
  • The PARTICIPANT will present a letter of intent outlining the aims of his/ her research project within the timelines indicated on the Albus Award website. The letter of intent will be reviewed by an independent jury formed by clinical and research scientists (the "Jury"), who will select a number of participants to submit a full proposal based on the criteria detailed below.
  • In case the PARTICIPANT's proposal is awarded (the "Awardee") according to the assessment of the Jury, the Awardee agrees to personally attend the Award Ceremony*.
  • The PARTICIPANT agrees that the project will be assessed by the Jury taking into account the following criteria: (a) scientific merit, (b) innovation of the project, (c) clinical and medical impact, and (d) research environment and qualification of the PARTICIPANT.
  • The Awardee agrees to have his/ her full name and photograph published on the Albus Award website.
  • The Awardee agrees that the research project as well as the respective results will be presented in collaboration and agreement with Grifols, S.A. ("Grifols").
  • The Awardee agrees that the payment of the financial award (Euros 50,000) will only be transferred from Grifols to the Institution that employs or supports the Awardee. Grifols will not transfer any financial award directly to the Awardee.
  • The Awardee agrees that he/she will provide Grifols with an interim study report after the half-time of the research project, and a full report after the completion of the study.
  • The Awardee grants Grifols a non-exclusive, non-transferable royalty free license to use any and all results, derived directly or indirectly from the research project for Grifols' internal research and development purposes. The Awardee shall present any information, data and/or results derived, directly or indirectly, from the research project only with the prior written consent of Grifols, which consent shall not be unreasonably withheld.
  • The PARTICIPANT acknowledges that the grant of the Albus Award is not conditioned upon any promotion, prescription and/or use of Grifols' and/or its group companies' products nor it is intended to influence the PARTICIPANT to do so.
  • The PARTICIPANT declares and warrants that his/her participation in the Albus Award does not infringe any legal provisions, agreements, rights or assets owned by any third party.
  • By applying for the Albus Award Program, the PARTICIPANT confirms that, in case he/she is appointed as Awardee, he/she is willing to sign a contract with the Institution and Grifols which includes the CoPs, among other provisions. Grifols will not transfer any payments without such contract in effect.
  • The PARTICIPANT is informed that it is Grifols group's policy to consider the applicable laws, as well as the guidelines and/or regulations that the different associations of the pharmaceutical industry issue to ensure greater transparency in the interactions held among the distinct market players. In this sense, Grifols will publish the award granted to the Awardee under the Albus Awards on its webpage and/or through any other media.
  • The PARTICIPANT must not be an employee of Grifols or its group companies nor must be a relative up to the second degree of kinship of the persons directly involved in the evaluation process/the administration of this award.
  • In case the PARTICIPANT provides Grifols with third party personal data, the PARTICIPANT declares and guarantees that he/she has obtained the third party's prior written consent and has previously informed about the content of these CoPs and the Privacy Policy. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the PARTICIPANT acknowledges that the research project presented under the Albus Award shall not contain any information which identifies or allows the identification of any patients and/or any other individuals object of the project.
  • These CoPs are governed by Spanish law. The PARTICIPANT agrees that any dispute that may arise regarding the interpretation or enforcement of these CoPs shall be settled by the courts of the city of Barcelona.

*Costs associated will be paid by Grifols S.A. (subject to any local laws and regulations applicable for these purposes)
